An Evaluative Effort To Determine A Systems Approach To Formal Plan Review Process

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department currently uses several people at different levels in the organization to review building plans with no on-site inspection process. This has led to an inconsistent and often-time fragmented approach to code enforcement. It is the stated purpose of this research effort to evaluate, by survey, a random sampling of similar size fire departments to see if there is a trend toward a system approach toward the plan review process that would enhance the operation of the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
