Conservation Of Biological And Landscape Diversity In The Dnipro Dnieper River Basin

This monograph presents a selection of papers completed under the guidance and funding of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) as the executing agent for the GEF-UNDP Project "Preparation of a Strategic Action Programme( SAP) for the Dnipro (Dnieper) River Basin and Development of SAP Implementation Mechanisms" (short form "Dnipro Basin Environmental Project" of DBEP). The focus is on biodiversity conservation as one of the major components of the DBEP that was under IDRC management, with the objective of improving conservation of biodiversity in the Dnipro River Basin under four main activities, namely (1) assessment of existing protected areas, (2) review of legal, policy, institutional and regulatory framework in the basin, (3) review of agricultural and fisheries practices, and (4) developing a regional strategy for conserving and protecting biodiversity in the basin.
