Laparoscopic Surgery In Gynaecological Oncology

"The introduction of endoscopic surgery to gynecological oncology is now ten years old. The movement started in France and grew to the United States, and we consider ourselves fortunate to have been some of the early investigators in the field. We are also blessed that virtually all the early pioneers in this pursuit have been willing to contribute to this text. As with any oncology text, there is a great variation in each authors's philosophies on management. Laparoscopy aside, there is no universal consenus on the management of any gynecologic malignancy. The introduction of laparoscopy in gynecologic oncology only compounds an already complex area, and of course makes a controversial topic even more so. We respect these individual and regional philosophic differences and encourage the reader of this text to read between the lines."
