Manuscript Of An Address By Justin Smith Morrill Titled The Wood Portrait Given Before The Vermont Historical Society

A manuscript copy of Justin Smith Morrill's address to the Vermont Historical Society on 25 October 1894, regarding the portrait of Morrill by artist Thomas Waterman Wood of Montpelier, Vermont. The portrait was presented to the Vermont Historical Society by the artist. In his address, Morrill speaks of his time as a United States senator. The manuscript is embossed with the Vermont Historical Society seal, and on the final page there is a statement certifying that the manuscript was written by Morrill, dated 27 October 1894 and signed by the President of the society, Hiram Carleton and Corresponding Secretary Joseph A.
