Abstract: Abstract of the thesis entitled Mechanics of Viscoelastic Mud under Water Waves Submitted by XUEYAN ZHANG for the Degree of Master of Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong July 2006 Abstract This thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, a laboratory study is pre- sented on the rheological measurements of natural muds. Natural muds dredged from Haihe River in Tianjin and Mazhou Island in Shenzhen are tested in the laboratory using a Brookfield R/S rheometer.
