There was no time or thought for the things of yesterday, and as time went on, and order came out of chaos, there arose a mighty gathering of the daughters of the Southland, to band them selves together for the purpose of caring for the helpless vet erans who had worn the gray, for the rearing of monuments to the memory of the Lost Cause, and for the gathering of and preserving all the matter of historical nature.
