Some Peat Moss And Peat Deposits In Selected Areas

Canada is the major North American source of horticultural grade peat moss. Due to increasing costs of conventional energy sources andprojections of worldwide shortages, there is growing interest in the possibliities of peat as an alternative energy source. A program to investigate horticultural peat moss and peat resources adjacent to majortransportation routes was carried out during the field season of 1975, 1976,and 1977. Twenty-one deposits were examined, selectedfrom an air photograph study and varying in area from 93 ha to 2050 ha.
