The Teaching Transgender Toolkit

As an increasing number of transgender people come out, there is an increased need for the provision of culturally competent and fully inclusive education and services. Currently, there are limited resources available for facilitators and trainers to use while conducting trainings to help raise awareness. The Teaching Transgender Toolkit is a collection of resources and lesson plans for teaching transgender-related information for a variety of audiences, including: high school and college students, educational professionals, medical, mental health and social service providers, community groups, faith communities, parents/families, and more. The Teaching Transgender Toolkit is based on best practices in the field and is the first of its kind. This guide enables facilitators and trainers to provide the most accurate and effective practical training, toward the goals of increasing awareness, empathy and skills. As a result of these trainings, participants will be well prepared to acknowledge, support, and engage with transgender people in an affirming manner.
