Trip Report Fremantle Fatigue Conference And Fmp Related Field Visits And Meetings

The first part of this report summarizes proceedings of the third International Conference on Fatigue & Transportation held in Fremantle, Western Australia, in 1998. The conference is held to discuss the state of the art in driver fatigue research, implications for transportation, and future directions. Topics covered include fatigue determinants, risk factors, driver fatigue monitoring, driver surveys, fatigue recovery, countermeasures to reduce fatigue-related accidents, and work scheduling. The second part reviews the current regulatory situation in Australia regarding hours of service for commercial drivers. The third part describes the Queensland Transport fatigue management program pilot project. Part 4 assesses the essential elements of an effective fatigue management program. The final part briefly reviews a program called TruckSafe.
