John M. Cyrus (b. 1803, d. bef. 1860) was born in Tennessee. He was married to Nancy Elizabeth Williams, who was born 1809 in Tennessee. According to 1850 Tennessee census their children were: William Valentine Cyrus, born 1832 in Illinois; Rebecca Cyrus (1834- 1920), who was born in Tennessee and married William J. Jackson; John Cyrus (1835-1901), born in Tennessee and married Margaret Jackson; Christopher Cyrus (b. 1838); Elizabeth Cyrus (1840-1929), who was born in Nashville, Tn. and married Oliver Butcher; Sarah Jane (1844-1889), born in Tennessee and married Joseph Calvin Moulder. John M. Cyrus was commissioned the first Justice of the Peace in Hickory Co., Missouri on Aug. 3, 1845. Descendants live in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and elsewhere.
