Excerpt from Proceedings of the M. W. Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of California, at Its Sixteenth Annual Communication: Held at the Masonic Temple, in the City of San Francisco; Commenced on Tuesday, Oct. 10th, A. D. 1865, A. L. 5865, and Terminated on Saturday, Oct. 14th, A. D. 1865, A. L. 5865 Many of you will recollect that at our last Communication, Yolo Lodge, N o. 81, preferred charges against Grafton Lodge, No. 141, for neglecting to provide for the necessities of one of its own members; and that, upon the report of the Committee on Grievances, a resolution was adopted severely censuring Grafton Lodge, and directing me to take such action in the case as should seem expedient. The hearing before the committee was ex parte. On inquiry, I became satisfied that the Lodge had done all that could reasonably be required or expected of it for the relief of the brother, and I did nothing further. The affair had created some ill feeling between the Lodges, but, as they were neighbors, I supposed that mutual explanations would settle all their disagreements. In March last, however, Grafton Lodge made com plaint to me of the action of Yolo Lodge in regard to it. I took no notice of the complaint, preferring that they Should meet here and bring all their grievances before you for final adjudication. Both are represented here, and will lay all the facts of the case before you, or such committee as may be appointed to hear them.
