Region Vii Developmental Disabilities Plan

"The Regional Plan describes the existing pattern of services and facilities for the developmentally disabled in the region and presents a coordinated, comprehensive program for the orderly development of high quality services and facilities to meet the needs of the Region. The plan serves as a guide for the expenditure of federal funds under the Developmental Disabilities Act, and reflects the region's planning process to achieve the purposes of the Act. The definition of a developmental disability as stated in the Developmental Disabilities Act and regulation is "... a disability attributable to mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or another neurological condition of an individual found by the Secretary (HEW) to be closely related to mental retardation or to require treatment similar to that required for mentally retarded individuals, which disability originates before such individual attains age eighteen, which has continued or can be expected to continue indefinitely, and which has constituted a substantial handicap to such individual."
