Tri State Community Improvement Programs

"This booklet, while providing an overview of 26 community development success stories, is an insight into three on-going community development programs in three midwestern states: Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska, They are the Iowa Community Betterment Program, the Kansas Community PRIDE program, and the Nebraska Community Improvement Program. All three programs are very much alike in the goals they seek to achieve. The Community Awards Competition phase, which is a major segment of all three programs, finds communities competing annually with other communities of comparable population in their state. Brief highlight descriptions of various local programs -- how they were organized, what they include, and how projects were or are being accomplished -- are enumerated in the following pages. They have been arrayed by population size. These descriptions however, represent only a sampling of the total number of communities that have so far participated in one of these three programs.
